These terms
These terms are the agreement between you and Steady Private Wealth (Pty) Ltd for your membership. The fee schedule below and the Club 25 constitution are part of them. You accept them when you sign your application with your typed name and the code we email you.
What Steady is, and is not
- Steady gives you a personalised financial plan, an advisor who coaches you on it, and automation that runs it on payday.
- Steady is not a bank and does not take deposits. Your money stays in accounts in your name at our partner bank. We never hold or pool it.
- Steady runs payments only on a mandate you sign, and you can revoke it in the app.
- Your advisor coaches, budgets and handles admin. They do not sell or recommend financial products. Advice on insurance or investment products comes only from our licensed financial services provider partner, and any fee Steady receives for it is a flat amount we tell you about first.
Applying
- You apply online or in the app. Applying costs nothing.
- We confirm your identity, as our partner bank requires, and an advisor reviews your application personally.
- You hear from us within 72 hours of your identity being confirmed, with a reason either way. If we are late, your first month is free.
- We may decline an application, and we will tell you why. You may apply again.
Your founding place
- There are 25 founding places.
- If you are approved, your place is held for 7 days. To keep it, pay the founding payment of R12,000, which is your first three months' fees.
- If you don't pay within the 7 days, the place is released and you may apply again.
- Founding members pay R4,000 a month for as long as they stay members. From the second cohort the fee is R4,500.
- If Steady does not launch by 31 January 2027, we refund every rand you have paid.
The fee schedule
Membership is R4,000 a month for founding members, and every rand of it has a job:
| Part | A month | What it pays for |
|---|---|---|
| Your stake in Club 25 | R1,700 | Paid into the club in your name, every month |
| Your advisor | R920 | Your sessions, their preparation, your written plan; at most 8 members per advisor |
| Your year | R600 | Coffee at every review, gatherings, help with your will, living will and power of attorney |
| Running Steady | R600 | Payment automation, verified payees, your vault, compliance |
| Steady's margin | R180 | What keeps the standards high |
The founding payment of R12,000 covers your first three months. After that the fee is collected on your payday, as part of your payday run. Founding members' fee does not go up. We will give at least 20 business days' notice of any change to anything else in this schedule.
Your mandate and payday runs
- You sign a mandate with your typed name and a code we email you. It lets Steady instruct our partner bank to move money between your own accounts and to your verified payees, as your plan sets out.
- Your plan, and every change to it, needs your acceptance in the app. Anything that moves money waits for your PIN.
- You can revoke the mandate in the app at any time. Without it Steady can't run your payday, so revoking it is treated as notice to leave (see below).
- If a payment fails, we tell you the same day with what happened and the fix. Steady is not liable for a payment the bank refuses or delays.
Your advisor
You choose your advisor in your first month. They carry no more than eight members, meet you regularly as your plan sets out, send notes within 24 hours of each session, and reply to a change request within one working day. Before a big decision, tell your advisor first: you get an instant read in the app and a reply within a working day.
What we ask of you
- Pay on time.
- Attend your monthly review.
- Talk to your advisor before any big spend.
- Reach out within three days when something goes wrong.
- Complete your 90-day actions.
The standards are about effort, not outcomes. A hard year is never a breach. If you keep missing them, your advisor talks it through with you first.
Club 25
Club 25 is a member-owned stokvel registered with NASASA, run under its own constitution by an elected committee. Joining Steady makes you a member of the club. Where these terms and the constitution differ about the club, the constitution applies.
- Your stake. R1,700 of your fee goes into the club in your name every month.
- Borrowing. After six months of membership you may borrow: half from your own stake, half from members who choose to lend. Interest is paid upfront to the members who lend, not to Steady. You repay from your monthly contribution, so your monthly fee does not change.
- Deciding loans. Your advisor sizes an emergency, and the committee decides within hours. Larger loans go to a vote of the owners, as the constitution sets out. You can't decide on your own loan.
- The ledger. Every rand in and out of the club is on a ledger every owner can see.
- Steady takes nothing from the pool.
The minimum term: six months
We invest heavily in your first month, so membership has a minimum term of six months, counted from your first payday run.
| Leaving in the first six months | Allowed, on 20 business days' notice, as the Consumer Protection Act requires |
| Early-exit fee | The months left in your six months × R2,750, the service part of your fee |
| After six months | Month to month: leave any time on 20 business days' notice, no fee |
| Your Club 25 stake | Returned in full, less any loan you still owe, at the next payout date. You give up only that cycle's share of interest and your founding standing |
Cooling-off. You may cancel within 7 days of signing, for no reason and with no fee, and we refund anything you paid.
Leaving, and when we may end membership
- You give notice in the app. Your mandate keeps running your plan until your last payday, then stops.
- We may end your membership on 20 business days' notice if you keep breaking the member standards after we've raised it with you, or if you owe us fees for more than two months. We may end it at once if you gave us false information or used Steady unlawfully.
- When membership ends, we stop payday runs, return your stake as above, and keep records only as our privacy notice says.
Complaints
- Tell your advisor, or write to katleho.b.sebiloane@gmail.com. We acknowledge within two working days and answer within ten working days.
- If you're not satisfied:
- about advice on a financial product: the FAIS Ombud;
- about the service under these terms: the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud;
- about Club 25: the committee first, then NASASA;
- about your personal information: the Information Regulator.
Responsibility
- Your plan is built on what you tell us. We are not responsible for a loss caused by information you gave us that was wrong or incomplete.
- We are not responsible for what our partner bank does or fails to do, or for events beyond our reasonable control.
- Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, or our responsibility for our own gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
Signatures and notices
- Your typed name and the code we email you together are your electronic signature under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act. We record the time, the device and the version of the document you signed.
- We send notices to you in the app and by email. You send notices to us in the app or to katleho.b.sebiloane@gmail.com.
Changes to these terms
We will tell you in the app at least 20 business days before a change applies. If a change works against you, you may leave before it applies with no early-exit fee. Founding members' monthly fee never changes.
The law that applies
South African law governs these terms, and South African courts decide disputes about them.
